Open Invitation to words Islam |
|
After three years, when
people started embracing Islam in large number. The Lord of the
worlds commanded the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to openly
invited the people towards Islam. Prophet's immediately complied
with the divine orders, climbed the top of Mount Safa in Mecca and called Quraish
by name of their each clan. When they all gathered there, Prophet's
enquired from all of them.
" If I inform you that an aggressor's army
behind this mountain in advancing toward you and is ready to attack
you, will you confirm me?"
Having listened to him, all said with one
voice, "Surely, we shell consider your news absolutely correct,
because we have never seen you telling lies. "Thereafter, prophet's
said, Well, I inform you that if you did not forsake your false creed,
Allah's torment is quite near to you." " So far as I know,
not a single person in this world has brought for his nation a gift like
the one I have brought for you. The gift I have brought for you is your
welfare and success in both the world. And I have been commanded by the
Lord of the worlds to invite you towards it. By God, if at all I had told
lies to the people of the whole worlds, I would not had done so at least
with you. Had I cheated you at least. I swear by the Holy One, unto Whom
no one is comparable or His associate. that I am the messenger and prophet
of Allah sent to you in particular and the rest of the world in
general.
Opposition
and Enmity of the whole Arabia and Steadfastness of the Prophet
The programme of dissemination of and invitation toward Islam continued, but
when the Arabs become aware of the fact that in his revelations the
reality of their idols and the stupid ness of their worshippers was
exposed, they girded their loins against the Prophet and delegation
representing them come to his uncle Abu Talib to ask him either he should
stop the Prophet from such objectionable utterance or alienate himself
from his support. Abu Talib nicely quibbled them and the prophet (peace be upon him)
carried on his mission of the propagation of the truth and prohibiting the
people from the worship of the idols. When the Arabs could no more
tolerate it, they again went to Abu Talib and emphatically told him to
better control his nephew otherwise they would all fight against him
till one of the opponent groups is perished.
Reaction of the Prophet against Arabs Tribes
Now Abu Talib also got worried and talked to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
in this connection, who replied, " My respected uncle, by God, if
they could bring and place the sun on my right hand and the moon on my
left hand and then ask me to stop conveying the message of God to the
humanity, I would never be prepared to do like that, till the true
religion spreads among the people or at least I lay down my life in this
struggle.
When Abu Talib was this determined attitude of the prophet, he said,
" Very well; you go and continue your
mission, I shall also never give up my support and help to you."
Spreading of Hatred Among people and its
Reverse Effect
When the Quraish noticed that Banu Hashim and banu Muttalib were on his side and
the Hajj season was approaching fast, they apprehended that he would make
enthusiastic efforts in the propagation of Islam and they were also aware
of the magnetic attraction in his truthful words, and as such his religion
might spread all over the world. Therefore, they met together and decided
that their own men be posted on all the paths leading to Mecca so that
people coming for Hajj from different places might be informed at a far
distance that there existed a magician in Mecca, who by the force of his
speech, was creating differences between the father and the son, the
husband and the wife and among all relation. they should better not meet
him.
As if it was providential, their this step, on
the contrary, served the Holy Prophet's purpose of the dissemination
of Islam. Had they not done so, it was very likely that many people
might not have heard about him, but this sort of struggle on the
part of the enemies of Islam made every one fond of him.
Persecution by the Quraish and Perseverance of the Prophet
When the Quraish failed in all their plots against him and was that his
invitation toward Islam was gaining popularity day by day, and people were
embracing Islam in large number, they started persecution of every type.
They called some vagabonds and persuaded them to ridicule him in every
meeting and persecute him in every possible way.
A Murder-plan Against the Prophet and is
Obvious Miracle
Once it so
happened that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) was
offering his prayer near the sacred Ka`bah. When he assumed the
position of Sahdah Abu Jehl, presuming it a golden opportunity ,
made up his mind to crush his sacred head. But: " If the enemy is
strong, the Guardian is stronger." When he come near to the
Prophet with a stone, his hands started trembling. The stone feel
down, his face turned pale and rushed to his own people to tell the
that, as soon as he intended to raise his hands toward him (the
Prophet), a curious type of camel pounced upon him with his mouth
open and it was just to devour him. He also told them that he had
never seen such a dreadful camel.
This is the event
which occurred in the presence of a gathering of the infidels and
Abu jehl himself acknowledge it. Abu Jehl, Aqbah bin Abi
Moheet, Abu Lahab, Aas bin Vaeil, Aswad bin Yaghus, Aswad bin Abdul
Muttalib, Waleed bin Mugheerah and Nadar bin Harith, all these
persond kept torturing the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). None of
them had the guts of embracing Islam; rather, all of them died most
disgracefully. Some of them were killed in the battle of Badr and
the others died of most abominable diseases.
Attractive Inducements by Quraish
and his Response
When the Quraish was that their coercive methods did not work, they
collectively decided after mutual consultation, that they should
send to him their cleverest chief, Utbah bin Rahiyah, to induce the the
Prophet with every worldly attraction, which might dissuade him from him
mission. Utbah come in when he was his prayers in the Mosque. Getting
closer to him, he said, 'O Nephew, in order of precedence, according to
our ancestral lineage, you are superior to all of us. And in spite of
that, you have wedged a differentia in the community. You condemned them
and their idols. You dunned them and their ancestors as ignorants. Today,
you better express what is in your heart. By all these activities, if your
object is to gather much wealth. We are prepared to gather for you so much
wealth that would be the wealthiest man among the people of Mecca. If you
desire to become a chief, we shall agree to make you the chief of all the
Quraish and shall do nothing but with your permission; if your
object is become a king, we can select you as a king of all us, and if,
(God forbid) your are possessed by any jinn and this is his word
(revelation) that you convey to the people, and you feel that you are
unable to get rid of it, we shall search for a doctor for you
treatment".
When Utbah had finished his talk, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
recited, in reply to his whole story, only one Surah of the Qur'an, which
stunned Utbah. He returned to his people and said, "By God, To
day I have hard such a discourse as I have never heard in my life. By
God, it is neither poetry, nor sooth-saying and nor magic. In my
opinion you better give up persecution against this man (the
Prophet), because the discourse I have heard from him is definitely going
to be known in a glorious manner. I am your well-wisher. You accept my
advice and at least wait for a few days. If the Arabs prevailed upon
him, you will would deliverance from this trial, and if he prevailed upon
the Arabs then his honour would be our honour because he belonged to our
tribe.
The Quraish were surprised to listen all this from their most adroit
chief, and they relieved themselves by saying that Muhammad (peace be upon
him) has cast a spell upon him.
Having
failed in all their tactics, the Quraish restarted teasing and persecuting
the Prophet (peace be upon him) his Companions, the associates and the
relatives. The Companions like Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with
him) were severely persecuted. On this very account, the mother of Ammar
bin Yasir was martyred in the most grievous manner. And this was the
very first incident of martyrdom in Islam.
