Character and Conduct
The Holy Prophet's (peace
be upon him) was the most chivalrous and bravest, and at the same
time the most generous man. Whenever any person asked for a thing he
used to respond very quickly and favorably.
He was the most tolerant and persevering so much so that once the Sahabah
requested him to invoke curse on a group of the infidels but the replied,
" I have been sent as a mercy and not a chastisement."
Once the Holy Prophet's (peace be upon him) tooth was martyred by
the enemies, but in return he prayed for their forgiveness.
the Holy Prophet's (peace be upon
him) was unique in modest. The Prophet never stared at any one's face. The
Prophet was neither vindictive in his personal affairs not expressed his
anger. But whenever he noticed some one crossing the limits prescribed by
Allah, he did express his anger and in that case no one stand it. Whenever
he was given option between the tow things, he always opted for the easy
one )so that it may facility the Ummah to follow him). He did not use to
find fault with any dish, rather used to eat it if it was favorable
otherwise he would just leave it. He did no like to recline against a
pillow while eating or sit on a table etc. Light and thin loaves were
never prepared for him. He used to eat melon combined with dates. He was
by nature fond of honey and all sorts of sweets.
Hadrat
Abu Hurairah said: "
The Holy Prophet's (peace be upon him) left this world in such a way that
he and his family members never at even the barley-bread to their entire
satisfaction. Some times, even two months padded and there was nothing to
cook in their house. In such circumstances they had to lie on dates and
water only."
He used to mend his
shoes himself and stitch patches to his clothes himself. Hw worked
for his family and visited the patients to enquire about their
health as his general practice. If any person invited, whether a
wealthy or a poor, he always accepted and went to his place. He
never looked down upon a poor person just because of his destitution
and he was never awe-struck by the realm of even a mightiest King.
He used to allow even his slave to ride behind him He used to wear
coarse clothes and even mended shoes. White clothes were his most
favorite dress.
His practice was to
immensely remember Allah and avoid idle talk. He used to offer Salat
somewhat lengthy one but deliver Khutbah a short one. He never hesitated
in walking along with the slaves and the poor people. On and off, he
also used he never talked of any false thing. He was warmest among
the people on welcoming his visitors and kindest in conduct while
talking to or dealing with others. He used to accept the regrets if
anyone regretted for any wrong or misconduct.
Hadrat Aiyashah said:
"His conduct
was infact the Qur'an."
And the Holy Qur'an confirms it in the following words. "and most
rare you passes king moral excellence.
It means whatever Qur'an appreciated, he also appreciated the same and
whatever the Qur'an disliked he also disliked the same.
Hadrat Anas said:
" I have never smelt a
fragrance other than the fragrance of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him)."
Prophet's Miracles
When a worldly king
deputes any one as Governor of a Province. He is gone some signs and
some powers are delegated to him, which convince the people of his
Governorship. For instance his grandeur, his retinue, his army and
the powers invested in him, which other people can't enforce.
Similarly, when the messengers of Allah come in this world, they are
enriched in humanly possible highest degree of qualities of truth,
honesty and good conduct, and are also entrusted with a dominating
power by which their antagonists yield before them. The same
superhuman or supernatural powers qualities are named as miracles.
The miracles of our messenger
of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), also excell the miracles of all other Prophets and Messengers in
number and nature. The miracles of the former Prophets (peace be upon him)
were hinging around their own personalities but Qur'an, the miracle of the
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is even today a living one and safely in
the hand of every Muslim. All the forces of the universe, including the
human beings and the jinn, are helpless before it. Besides, dividing the
moon into two parts, flowing of water through his fingers, recitation of
tasbewh (Allah's praise) by the pebbles, weeping of the wooden pillar,
greetings for him by the trees, his calling of the trees and their
physical presence before him, and turning of thousand of his prophecies
into stark reality like the sun, all these and thousands of other miracles
are attributed to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) which are not only
mentioned in the Quranic verses and Ahadith but have also been proved by
the evidence of the infidels as attested by the preceding and the
succeeding scholars in their looks. "Khasais-i-Kubra" by Alama
Suyuti and later on ' Risala Al-Kalam-ul-Mubeen" (Urdu) have been written
on the subject, but our present brief treatise does not have a room
for its details. Therefore, it is concluded here.
And All
praise to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds.
